What does it mean to be “born again”?
Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council, came to Jesus one night for some answers about God. Jesus told him that no man would see God unless he were “born again”. You can imagine Nicodemus’ perplexity at that answer. “How can a man enter his mother’s womb again!” Jesus said, “You cannot enter the Kingdom of God unless you are born of the water and spirit.” John 3:3
“Everyone born of God overcomes the world.” I John 5:4
The new birth (born again) occurs when we invite Jesus Christ to forgive us of our sins and ask him to be our Lord and Savior. He fills us with the Holy Spirit and we become a new creation in Christ.
If I were to die right now, do I know where I would spend eternity?
If you have received Jesus into your life as your savior, then you are born again, and you can be secure in knowing that you will spend eternity in Heaven.
I John 5:13, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.”
What is the infilling or baptism of the Holy Spirit?
John the Baptist said, “There is one (Jesus) that comes after me that will baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire.” Luke 3:16
Jesus said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.”
Pray that Jesus will baptize you in the Holy Spirit just like on the day of Pentecost. Ask Him for a special prayer language to pray the perfect will of God.
Jude 1:20 “Build ourselves up in our most holy faith as we pray in the Holy Spirit.”
How do I hear the voice of God?
“The Holy Spirit confirms in our hearts His will for us.” Romans 2:23
“Be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your minds (Bible study and prayer) that you may know God’s will.” Romans 12:2
Ask God to “fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” Colossians 1:9-10
Is church membership important?
Meeting with like-minded Christians will help you to build yourself up in “the most holy faith”. Find a Bible based church that believes that the Bible is the Word of God. Ask God to show you where He wants to “plant” you so you can grow as a Christian in your understanding of the Bible, the Christian walk and the Power of the Holy Spirit.
Do I need to be baptized in water?
“Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38
When you receive Jesus into your heart and life and ask him to forgive you of your sins, you are baptized spiritually into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit. Water baptism is symbolic of that spiritual baptism and redemption. When you join a church tell your pastor that you want to be baptized in water.
Is physical and inner healing for today?
“Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits and gave sight to many who were blind.” Luke 7:21
“In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes (demonic presence) with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Mark 16:17-18
Jesus still heals today. Speak healing for your own body and anyone in need in the name of Jesus. You have been given much authority in the name of Jesus!
How do I begin to study the Bible?
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and enlighten the eyes of your heart as you begin your Bible reading. We encourage you to begin with the Gospel of John, then read the following books: I John, Colossians and Romans. These will get you started. From there, go to the beginning of the New Testament (Matthew) and continue reading until the end. Be sure to read the Bible daily, at least one chapter. |
